they come
illuminate the dewy sky
shine through the haze, the smog
their coma sets them apart from the space dust
and their tails
of tales and travails of their journeys
leave the dwellers and the fellow travellers mesmerised
who themselves are at but a pause
bright, shedding light
this is the story of a place
where the lucky few
amongst the billions that inhabit this rock
have been able to visit, stay and glow at
this is life
and time is the conveyor belt sans emotions
yet the comets will keep visiting again
and again
and so will be the new ones knocked out from their habitats
to this plane
that is DU
i see many a stars
and many comets here
each night
do you

Author's Note
throughout my time here in this place i have observed this... and today was the time i tried putting in words what i see not what i feel...
the cycle of life... Poets... amazing artists..some much more talented than those whose books we find on the shelves of bookstores. Poets come, they stay, some for a short time, some longer and in time most yes most leave. And then many come back and go again and some sadly never return... but during their stay..they set this place alight like a christmas tree with their gems in unison with the then comets at pause. Eventually all of us reading this today will pass... just wanted toacknowledge each and every indvidual artist that makes this place what it is... yes this too shall pass..

it is always comforting and reassuring, knowing some are planets and are 'home'
you summed it up much better than i could ever... indeed an epic place.
And yes you do own much more than a part of it.
humbling is the appreciation of the humble note of observation.

Lucky indeed. Even if I can't, I revel in the glowing pens around me & the mysterious family . None other touches DUP when it comes to connection. We shine & sparkle, plus there are many comets as you said!!⭐

Beautiful thoughts, beautifully penned. I'm honoured to be in your cosmos. I suspect many of us will recognize each other when we pass to the other side, and it won't matter that we never actually "met" in this life.....

Like a vacation away from home can seem too short
so is the vacation/break away from this DU home seem too long,
and it is surely true the comets who orbit this rock do not appear often
enough, nor stay too long

One of my favorite forms of meditation is the ancient Taoist practice of sitting contemplating the heavens. An amazing poem my friend.

I missed this being so busy with NaPo - so I'm glad it was nominated for Poem of the Month.
This is a wonderful tribute to DUP - to those who have come and gone; those who have stayed; those who are new ( who are no less deserving as those who have been here since day one ). Each one, past or present, becomes a soul-star in our night sky.
Things change, people change, places change - there is nothing wrong with change except those who reject it because it's not how it used to be or how they want it to be. Each moment here is what each member chooses to make it.
