neti, neti

deceived by forms, and skin and bones
on an eternal search for truth
'neti, neti!' not this, not that,
nothing that can be pointed at
for it cannot be seen, and needs remain unsaid.
a truth so well disguised
by the fabric of our mind
and concealing the final wonders
that we are our own designers.

Author's Note
'neti, neti' - 'not this, not that' is a Sanskrit expression and a method of meditation to negate identification with all the things that we are not, arriving at the only thing we are.
