Atrocities
Bullets Flying Innocence dying
New Zeland gods land
bloodstained black arm band
murder preplanned
mother daughter father son
taken from this world by a cowards gun
clickity clack and it ends just like that
how much more do we have to endure
until politicians tighten gun laws and say NO MORE
Friedrich Nietzsche once said "That god is dead"
easy to say when ur sitting on your philosophical perch
but if theres anyplace to find god its in a place called Christchurch
our hearts go out to all who fell
and pray for the monster to burn in hell.

Author's Note
I wanted to start of my poetic endevours on this great site with something light hearted something fun but after the mass shooting in New zealand over weekend i was deeply affected with a heavy heart and feel i needed to be a voice for all that died.

Re. Atrocities
Greetings, Poet, and warm welcome to the Deep. I’m Jade, and I want to thank you for your contientous expression of the horrific Christchurch tragedy.
I also want to share with you, through this link below, a poem that was also written about the shootings, in which I added to a DU forum thread I started earlier last year, a forum that has a wealth of poetry from over the years. If the link takes you to the intro on the first page, once you see the purpose of this forum, go to page 10 and scroll down to the most recent posting, you can’t miss it for the image I put with it, a screen capture from New Zealand TV, shown via CNN.
I’m sure you know by now how we in other parts of the world send out our prayers for all those directly affected by such heinous acts of senseless violence.
Thanks again, and take care, Jack.

Like you I am Australian so we are at one with our New Zealand friends. Poignant and powerful poetry man. Just remember that when Nietzsche said god is dead he was looking to the future when we would be struggling to find any kind of universal values...as he said some 130 years ago...the 21st century will see wars like we have never seen before.
For all our innocent Muslim friends. Peace.
Cheers...Harry

Hey Sup Harry always good to hear from a brother countryman honestly mate thankyou for the read and especially the comment.Actually the Nietzsche line was more last minute i honestly wanted to use Nietzsches quote about if you gaze into a abyss long enough the abyss will gaze back to you i love the poignancy of that but it didnt fit the structure of my piece and my feelings at the time. But bro thankyou for your insight into the origin of Nietzsches god is dead quote.Your a legend bro.And yes our prayers are with all those suffering the loss of this cowardly attack

Leaves you aching for the world. It is truly a horrible tragedy what happened there in New Zealand. My heart goes out to all of the families that lost people, and for the corruption and evil that pushes people to do these kind of things.
I see that you are new to DU, and I just wanted to say welcome, and I look forward to seeing more of your work. Great expressivity and compassion seen here - I believe you are an empath!

Hey thankyou for the welcome but im sure weve met before im positive i say your name every new years eve when the clock strikes midnight and we raise our glasses To NewBeginings so your the one we always toast right ? hahaha.
But your so right not only leaves you aching for the world but leaves you aching in your own soul from these cowardly Atrocities that seem to happen way to frequently. We cant stop bullets with words but words have the power to heal and inspire thats why its important we express them in any shape or form like we all do here and pray for peaceful New Beginnings. Thank you so much again for the read and the beautiful comment really appreciate it. x
