Would he have or may still
love(d) her 'til the end of his time
and
she wonders if only
for the lack of melded circumstance
*thoughts as the clock strikes three
and the pen bleeds upon the illuminated page

And the picture she paints in her mind with words, are that of a tortured soul, reclined on fine linen sheets within her boudoir, as she writes of self, or is it that of another. And it is within this context the a poem is born, all to hide the truth of the television tuned to some mind numbing channel as she dines on two day old leftovers and tells the dog "No, you can't have any".
You had better go get some sleep, or you'll be the next to incur this curse.
Hope you are well. my friend.

This was an interesting angle to come at the competition from, the perturbations that unsettle the mind, denying rest. Keeping it succinct centralizes the focus upon the quandary. Well done.

Nice to see you, Daniel.
Your ability to read that which is not seen brings much joy, my friend, for so many are limited by their sight.
Thank you, dear Poet.

The things we ponder when everything falls into hush but most often somethings are better not to have answers for..good luck in the comp Teri.
Definitely, ecclectic entries in there, its fascinating to see how each of us takes the same subject and delivers something totally unexpected.

I've come back to this last for I wish to use it as a somewhat cleansing moment for inner thoughts.
When I first arrived on DU and discovered the comps, I thought it a great way to garner trophies to fed my ego, show off what I thought at the time was talent, and even went so far as to enter only those which had few responses, thus giving me a better chance to win. As time passed and though I was fortunate to win a few, my ego took a well deserved pounding by those that truly did have talent
After licking my wounds, and coming to realize they are more than just a showcase, it became a way to measure where I was and how far I needed to grow to be competitive. After a few more attempts with mixed results it truly dawned on me that there are not many that ignite that fire which inspiration needs to fed upon, so that, in conjunction with the lack of wishing to aspire to the level many on here are, I slowed down on entering them. Now I find myself entering only the ones which the theme is of interest and sparks that fire needed to write and just enjoy reading what others have written though, I'll admit to not voting at times simply because none of them struck a cord with me and voting would be more based on knowing or being friends with the author rather than the poem itself.
It is a shame only one entry can win, as with all contests, since many entries can stand on the merits found within and not simply due to the direction taken. Oh well, that's life I suppose, nothing is fair and much is irrelevant.
Anyway, hope to see someone in the winner's circle, means I've made it another day.
Teri
PS: Sorry for shattering the silence. :-)))

You've made some good points that I totally agree. I believe most people get caught with the attention of the win, its like validation and approval of peers that feeds our ego.. that what we are able to create is above the norm. To some extent its beneficial, as artists we are the most vulnerable exposing ourselves chisel by chisel.
But for what its worth comps are a great way to expand our comfort zone by tackling subjects that may not flow so readily as long as we keep perspective of its flaws.
