Manatees @ Large (em_zee)
in a sleepless minute moment
missing Matthew (MZ) mightily
muse of my mind & my heart’s
mandibles munch toothless in
mulch and menstruating milk -
shake – ingly monotonous &
mind – less – ness.
Elusive and falling no sleep
For me
or in the east coast deep
manatees so elusively
glide along the sandy bottom
while my GREAT new friend,
Matthew, leads. . .
‘em.
Backdropped &
beneath,
Matthew (MZ)
Heals us (and me)
with wicked wands
he wends and spells
humor causing
sutured laughter.
We forget we’re bleeding
for a moment, in that
moment,
we laugh as
brothers and sisters......

Your alliterative, onomatopoeic fantasy is more than meets the eye, I realise. Somewhere underneath there is a real creature looking for love. The funnel shape of the poem narrows things down to "the you" persona, the manatee. The subtle rhyming scheme is sometimes as elusive as the creature itself.
