high school daze

high school daze
comes hard
at high noon
eens besieging innocent years
budding philosophies
the apostrophe
of every errant victim

new tresses
find vacant body canvas
where fragile virginity
fluctuating octaves
and wild testosterone
accelerate the courtship
of giddy vixens
on pimple island

bitter books
enslave potential leisure
incremental pleasure
diminishing wit
to average garblage
when random roll call
solicits intellectual
accountability

sorority majority
brand new calamity
he said she said
blood shed
leaks evidence
of abortive concupiscence

wisdom wastes
in the flurry
of silver promises
and backhand trickery
gullible girls
trade half-ripe cherries
for the flimsy virtue
of truant boys

and when the last bell peals
prom glory breathes
its final breath
as smoke testaments
lament the sudden death
of blustery
high school daze…
