Everyones addicted.
Porn
fast food
nicotine
boyfriends
ritalin
cocaine
television
star bucks
over achievment.
Everyone has
that one little thing
giving them
a buzz
a chill
a moment to be nowhere
but in the bliss.
We capture it in different ways;
that illustrious part of ourselves
that truely
only wants
a bit of instant satisfaction.
So we whip out the cellphones
sip our coffees
blast our i-pods
and roll a joint.
Addiction is merely the backdrop
of a reality that no one cares
to partake in.
I wonder what
that says
about the world
we've made
when everyone wants an escape.

I like the topic of addiction and I agree that most of us are addicted to one thing or another. However, I don't think it has to be a bad thing; What it comes down to is whether the addiction owns you or you own the addiction. I think a little escape from life's trials is great as long as you are still in control of "it" somehow. I know the term addiction and being in control of it sounds contradictory but I don't believe it has to be.

really cool! reminds me of my theories on life... sum bumps with "that n that" but a very clean piece. i could sense that you include your self in the pool of petty addictions. reflecting on your life and what you see going on every day. good read!
