Image for the poem two pears at midnight

two pears at midnight

the day was optimistic
and she smiled at me
she held a secret for me
a special one

the sun rose on my defeated figure
it rose on my sin
it would not be defeated
I could not hold back the day
she would be happy today

with a nudge, she got my attention
she spoke in metaphors
saying "the light conquer the dark
in the desert water is King
the simple man won the race,
stopping for directions"

"child of destruction riddle me this
if you have two pears at midnight
come morning what do you have if you ate one pear?"

I answered, "what does all of this mean?"
she said "nothing but I got your attention"

"foolish one...
you see what you want
hear what you desire
you heard my voice today
can you also follow my instructions?"
