SWITCHED
The phantom of unconditional despair grips me amid the absurd chaotic turns of fascination and fear as I lie afraid to open eyes or confirm by any other measure paralyzed by the knowledge that I am lost to everyone I love
You are a foot away asleep on the bed the kids in the other room parents several miles north brothers here and there
I cry because crying is something that I remember how to do and it works the same way thank god
I cover myself up with the small bit of blanket that didn’t already form a cocoon and accidentally brush against myself and love how I feel
{Epilogue} Ultimately I laugh quietly for what seems like forever how is this moment any more ridiculous than any other after all
