I never understand categorical reletavism I.e. no one is better than another.... when it's clear some people's actions denote them as morally or intellectually or even culturally worse..... I honestly wish I had the ability to live in a world of that kind of unadulterated bliss but there is too much observable reality to refute the claim,

By the way this is me scratching my head trying to understand a different perspective as opposed to denunciation for what that may possibly be worth 😔

Quite often we strive for goals I.e. would you say you strive to be a better poet? How did that start? Imitation of others, of things you like reading the past to try and help you build a knowledge base to strive for the future. Some people don't get past mimicry to self actualization however striving to be better is better than nihilism and the counter, striving to make things worse.

Human attention is almost as necessary to our mental health as balanced diet, so yes people often find no other way to express that desire than for striving for the wrong kind of attention, or conversely striving for an ideal.

Your piece suggests we are all born complete, I can't conceptualize that because education suggests we are not complete, we need knowledge and a sense of something to strive for to offset the genuine struggles of life.

Dunno I'm rambling now and I'm now even sure it's coherent, but there's a lot going on in this poking my brain and a lot of it pokes protestations lol 🤣

Firstly, just curious, did you care to watch the video link to 'The Sneetches' by Suess I posted in the Author's notes?   Secondly, the essence of this ( as I had to be unique aside from the book/video ) is the deliberate theft/plaigiarization from another Sneetch - not a process of honest improvement without stealing ( for attention, reaction, lack of self-confidence, whatever the reason ).      
    
In the original Seuss,  there were two sets of Sneetches: a regular Sneetch and a Star Belly Sneetch ( who felt they were better than the regular ).  The regular made great strides to fit in with the Star Belly Sneetches, while the Star Belly made great strides to ignore/snub the regular.  The moral of his story was the outside doesn't matter, no one is better than the other.  In that I was true to the storyline.    
  
To be original, the essence of mine is Karma will eat your ass for stealing/plaigiarizing because your own abilities exist without warranting such.  Inspirations/muses are one thing - but directly and deliberately copycatting another,  well that's just a jealous thief.  Or, an unethical drama queen dying for a reaction she's not gonna get.  Unlike Seuss' Sneetches, where both the Star Belly and Regular go to great lengths to either belong or avoid the other,  the writer here refuses to engage in drama and trusts Karma to circle about and bite the plagiarizer in the ass.      
   
'Immitation' is subjective.  There is mirror immitation with credit to the source ( as we're demonstrating through our Classic poet comps ); and, there's blatant plaigiarization, where the author doesn't credit the source. But, rather, assumes it as their own.   Surely you agree the latter is completely unacceptable?      
   
Lastly, there is immitation of style, as I have done with Seuss' use of outlandish words such as dopplegang, copycatador, etc.  These classic comps are the perfect opportunity to emulate a style while being original ( not as easy as it sounds ); however, plagiarization is not permitted - if you mirror a line or title ( as I have ) it better be quoted, italicized denoting a quote,  or directly attributed ( whichever is more applicable ).      
   
As an aside, we are all born complete with our own unique gifts, and the tools necessary to perfect them. Some truly apply the tools to hone the gift; some attempt success without work.  But we are born as complete as we are unique.  Where the difference lies is afforded opportunity. Despite a lack of such, that's never an excuse to steal.      
   
I think the one exception to that would be food.  But that's my personal opinion, certainly not the law.      
   
I'm happy this poked your brain - Seuss was good at that, i.e. - making one think.  At least I scored in that aspect.
