Winter Solstice Full Moon

I thought about it, a lot;
spending time under the open sky
  rather than reading about it
  or, viewing photos after the fact

Yet, it was raining, a deluge
  had been for days;
an east coast front
  jettisoning its way through

I opted to use an umbrella
  despite the elements --
  just for a few moments
regardless of being sick

Glancing up, I knew without doubt
  as far as the Sun, Moon
  and Universe were concerned,
weather was irrelevant;

They were still cavorting stately
  in regally entwined courses
  as if nothing of consequence
was occurring below them

How steadfast they are
  in their appointed existence
  despite our various components
or, perceived hindrances

How soon we inadvertently forget
in this Unbearable Lightness of Being
  we are as temporary as a front
  jettisoning its way through

As if nothing of consequence
 was occurring above us
~
