How I Summon Bees🐝
( a Quatern )
While lying with you naked as you sleep,
Supine upon my back with idle hands,
Here in my mind the bees begin to creep
With fanning wings in numbers that expand.
The droning of their hum seduces me,
While lying with you naked as you sleep.
My mind goes gentle every time I see
Your drifting arms to draw me in your keep.
I tongue & trace the curves in moonlit seep,
The power of the bees is never seen.
While lying with you naked as you sleep,
Surrounded with a vow that I’m their Queen.
You dream of tasting honey from my spread,
I slip my way between to suck you deep.
I coax a little cream and bow my head,
While lying with you naked as you sleep.

Oh my goodness, my dear.
Well I tell you, the very first time I attempted the form, that’s exactly how I felt - like I was flying! And I immediately followed it up with a 2nd. Using 8-syllable count in the beginning. But soon I was doing both 8, and 10. And this was less than six months ago.
Besides Japanese short form poetry, the Quatern is, for me, has also become the most natural release of poetry expression I do now. And these are forms that people think are confining.
I better stop for now or I’ll just keep on.😁
