Toxic Religion
Having a bullet wound
or even a stolen, bleeding heart
is a good analogy
for the pain of solemn, self crucifying ideologies
accepted as though it was sound doctrine
to vulnerable, submissive, penitent minds
already burdened with an inhuman level of false guilt
Shame
Bleeding out and unaware
The belief in a cure is obliterated
In favor of a numbing white blank platitude
Covering an insult to life's pure essence
Until melting over a crimson puddle
Guilt
It is cold and dirty work
Never been whiter than snow
Or cleaner than bleached linens
It is the Emperor’s new stain stick
Counterfeit debt notes
For the forever “free” bondservant
Absolved of both hope and responsibilities
Busiest holy work ever
Rebellion
Go under the knife with me
Feel represented at last
Cut away the binding catchphrases
Open to knowing and owning
the moment innocence sold out
to crushing acceptance
instead of your deepest truths
Look deeply within yourself
bring forth the beguiled prisoner
See self sold out as fool savior
Heaven
No longer up for sacrifice
instead a body like a mansion
one among many mansions
Replacing hypocritical altruism
honest self interest most benevolent
In a spiritual place at home
A home deep inside
With the heart back within its chest
or even a stolen, bleeding heart
is a good analogy
for the pain of solemn, self crucifying ideologies
