Why Do I Do This To Myself?
One of these days, I’ll wake up.
Stop dreaming of a love that won’t ever work.
Accept the defeat of a dream
And keep you as the cherished friend
You know you’ve always been.
And yet, in the lonely dark,
It is always your familiar form
That I crave to feel beside me.
A week can pass without a single word
But with a wry twist of that talented tongue
You can bring me running again.
Who’s going to finally be the one
Brave enough to pull the plug?
Stop dreaming of a love that won’t ever work.
Accept the defeat of a dream
And keep you as the cherished friend
You know you’ve always been.
And yet, in the lonely dark,
It is always your familiar form
That I crave to feel beside me.
A week can pass without a single word
But with a wry twist of that talented tongue
You can bring me running again.
Who’s going to finally be the one
Brave enough to pull the plug?
