my feelings in a Gordian knot
I trace my fingers over these tangled thoughts
saying my own personal mantra

this one for my past I can't seem to resolve
one strand for the little girl lost inside me
a tight chord for my insecurities

future me is there standing proud
beaming at me with tears in her eyes
adorned in love and passion

she says
"run to me it's time to shine
shed the rags, tattered and torn
of the shame you carry"

"lady why hang your head?
when I've set up a meeting
people are eager to greet you
with understanding and knowledge
come off the ledge of confusion and self-hate"

"I know you intimately
I know you're ready
to step into my shoes
and fulfill your destiny"
