rational thinking
......
humans are
born irrational
asking to be rational
is akin to
keeping a dog's tail
in a pipe for a year
and expecting it to be
straight
when it comes out
rational thinking
does help
always
it is another matter
that
that 'help'
is not the one most
palatable to us
coz that would simply be
rational thinking
isn't it?

Rational thinking, one member of a team along with inspiration, intuition, instinct, imagination, soul, will - the intellect (rationality) has its place but I'm guessing our current society asks too much of it, whilst our other faculties of the mind lie little used.

absolutely spot on Josh.
well...i , here am not debatingor insinuating anything about the other aspect that is indeed true...human race's nature to be spiritual, not saying religious. Not saying this to you directly just staing what should be in the author's note.
Yes..absolutely agree, wedemand toomuch of it... and yes, other faculties of the mind go unutilised. Yes intellect does have its space... yet ART takes us beyond that and appeals to something inside us hard to rationalise with..
They came up with a perfectly sensible explanation for why beauty appeals to us..and why...part was our inherent ability to recognise pattern, symmetry etc..yes those things do make sense...yet there is stuff that is beyond those rational explanation, especially when it comes to art.
welcome
and appreciate dear Friend your encouragement, support and friendship!
valued. immensely!

you nailed it dear friend.
indeed
it is for the day to day
and that ...itself not an easy...for quite a few of us
yes
to a great extent
till we overdo that too
like religion....

Cold One!!
I try not to think about anything(rationally of irrationally), it hurts my cerebellum, but you always make me think!
I'm not angry with you, because I love your writing, so I'm having my brain removed, and replaced with a watermelon.
I think it's going to work out.
Awesome, my man! You are a thinker. I like it!!!

Re. rational thinking
Well, one would rationally think I'd comment here, and I would, were not for the rationing of rational thinking. :-)

Nothing irritates me more than someone asking me to be rational when I am caught in emotion! As if the idea of thinking things through hadn't occurred to me.... if I could maybe I would.... but sometimes I'd rather just FEEL.....
Ha, guess you hit a nerve with this one. :)

well..understandably so... especially when caught in emotion. One would presume the ones advising the advice especially when someone's clearly in deep emotions, is that itself a wise let alone wise, a rationally thought action? obviously no, the resulting irritation is obvious for ANY human being :-)
well...things happen...like hitting nerves inadvertently :-))
glad it brought smiles.

Rationalization is a complex beast with emotional creatures. Balance is everything...and that right there is one helluva workout, keeping it level. And humans are notorious for rocking boats. :-)
