She Smiles for Me

She Smiles for Me

My shoulders bear the burden of the tent
but she bears the heaviest bundle
which is, in fact, no hardship for her
of her mirror of the sun
in ribbon laced smile
which bounces its beams
from my looking glass eyes
to melt us into a funny paper mood
when two comic strip readers laugh in harmony
over French toast fresh from the griddle
on our Sunday morning campsite date
