The Bloody Jungle

Sent to the islands to secure what is ours,

Now is the deathly hour,

Landing ashore in the cover of night,

Hide until dawn and attack in the twilight,

Shake them awake with the thunder of guns,

Into the tropical Hell we run,

Orders came from command,

Dig in and make a stand,

Take the islands back,

Artillery covers our attack,

Through the green,

Our weapons give off their chrome sheen,

A sniper shot and Sarge is down,

Everbody hits the ground,

Looks like I'm in charge,

Facing a hail of bullets barrage,

Soldiers rise only to fall,

So many heeding Vahalla's call,

I call the orders to advance,

Time to dance the ancient dance,

Through enemy trench and tunnel,

Their backs are turned as they are funneled,

Tangled in their own barbed wrap,

Fell into their own trap,

My men waste no time,

Some would call it a war crime,

There in this dark,

Only the dogs of war bark,

No more shred of humanity,

In this bloody insanity,

Where bullets into flesh bore,

And the green in spattered with gore,

I clench my teeth,

Once more the jungle seeths,

An overhead boom,

Just buried the enemy into their new tomb,

I can only look on,

As we face this bloody dawn,

Some say all is fair,

When fighting in the beast's lair,

I think it won't always be this way,

But I'll never forget this day
