What Are We

We drink this
Poisonous
Noxious death
Cyanide drips
From every breath
Words of anger and hate
Tears try to console
Yet fears persuade
Too late
Too late

Who are you
Doubtful
Know all see small
To say what may be
Or is possible
I can pour sugar
Thick as maple
On our table
So sweet
So sweet

We live in
Candy
Wrapped
Chocolate covered
Lives disturbed
Trying to preserve
Our rotting fruits
Disguised lying beneath
Don't eat
Don't eat

Who am I
Hopeful
Afraid and unsure
In this universe
Eternally cursed
And lame yet versed
In the art of
Suffering and pain
No hate
No hate

We must change
Direction
Our course of
Discourse together
Tightly tying the tether
Not allowing the pain
Of Disregarding love
Destiny and fate
Not too late
Not too late
