Stepping Away

You said you met someone else and
I want to be happy for you, but it feels
Like a stab to the chest. Maybe you
Had good intentions and I understand
You did not mean to hurt me, but deals
That we made did absolutely nothing to
Make this last. It makes me wonder
If you were lying to me from the start.
Maybe I opened myself up too soon.
I know that this is just a small blunder
And misstep, but maybe my heart
Was too willing. Under the full moon
There is nothing more I can say than
Okay, I will do what is best for me
While you do what is best for yourself.
Now I need to come up with a plan
And take some steps back. I see
Things from afar, but this bookshelf
And curve ball was not what I was
Expecting. I step away from the buzz.
