Anatomy Project
When God created man, she formed him in the womb, yes that’s right, we’re not talking about the big boom!
She designed him as intricately as she could,
making sure every system does as it should.
In the first 8 weeks, things develop rather quick.
It’s vital to the life of the child that the mother doesn’t get sick.
While keeping healthy shouldn’t be a chore,
the mother’s immune system is lowered and allow colds and flus to knock on the door.
Inside her uterus, an organ is being built in haste,
it’s called the placenta and it transfers nutrients and gets rid of waste.
Connected to the placenta can be considered the baby’s life support,
the umbilical cord transfers oxygen and blood like a little transport.
The embryo’s journey is at a good start,
blood cells take shape and a tube is built that will soon become a heart.
The liver forms blood cells for the heart to spew.
65 beats a minute may seem like a few,
but for an embryo, that’s as much as me and you.
This little guy has been a swimmer since way back,
while in the womb he swims around in the amniotic sac.
As the first trimester is almost complete,
tiny buds grow into arms, hands, legs and feet.
from cartilage to bone his skeletal system grows,
you can start to see his fingernails, ears, eyes and toes!
The creation that was once an embryo is now a fetus,
this is also the time when the reproductive organs are developed and only 6 more months until he meets us!
The 2nd trimester is where the baby starts to grow at an even faster pace,
the brain is experiencing major development as if it’s in a race.
you can feel him try to stretch his new muscles by kicking or just giving a slight nudge. sometimes he’ll even grip the umbilical cord so hard he just won’t budge.
as the nervous system develops more and more every day,
the brain will not ever stop, even after his first birthday.
as the 2nd trimester comes to an end,
the baby will be able to see light and small blood vessels will form under his skin.
both the mom and the baby are in preparation for the biggest day of their human career,
making sure the digestive track becomes an independent system where the poo can go out of his rear.
his lungs are filled with amniotic fluid at the moment
but during the last few weeks, he’ll practice inhales and exhales instead of just laying dormant.
over the remaining 3 months, his brain and lungs can only develop but so much while in the womb,
but when he takes that first breath and his brain signals to cry, it’ll be tears of joy because now he has so much more room!
