Fragments

One shard is a piece of mind
A fragment he may never find
Some thoughts disrupted by the gap
And others hearing one hand clap

Another is the time of day
All scheduling begun to stray
The clock face has begun to crack
His routine rolling off the track

Still others are his heart and soul
Replaced by glowing chunks of coal
The heart has long lost its true beat
The soul now drifting on the street

But she still takes him by the hand
His thoughts of loss forever banned
The gaping holes reduced to none
Level terrain, a setting sun
