the moon forever
us mere mortals
we exalt this heavenly body in thought and dreams, even in a real live walk
yet the moon doesn't respond
as we search and search an answer behind its illumined trance
perhaps it is meant to be thus
only an austere beauty signals to us

Absolutely lovely. I don't want to seem like I'm self promoting, but I have one called Celestialove about the earth and sun. Your moon is lovely to me because he's left out as a rejected lover cast into the darkness and cold. He is like us, he has no control over his fate. . Guess I read a lot into this, but that's what good poetry does. .carries to another place :)

I read your poem and thought of D.H. Lawrence, his vision of the sexuality of the universe. I was particularly impressed by your expressive rendering of the sun and earth courtship, as viewed by a mortal's briefly privileged consciousness.
