light bearers
the skies bled crimson
as the fires raged out of control
the day was angry
watching her beloved redwoods burn down
while her children were dying
she was grieving
and the winds blew
fanning the inferno
that threatens Yosemite
the day conjured rain clouds
none came
her magic was pure
but the gods denied her relief
she was tempted to throw down the sun
and commit suicide
immortal death
but she refused to succumb to this feeling
because while considering this final act
she could see her children on the horizon
walking towards her
ready to be reborn into the world
so she looked to the heavens
and with a mighty warrior cry
she lay claim to the Earth
saying this far will you go
and no further
then she kissed her little ones on the foreheads
sending them back into the world
they are to be light bearers
stars that show the way

Ahh, my beautiful Dark Angel, you take us on a mystical journey with your words. I've read that forest fires are necessary for the growth of the forest. But it breaks my heart to see them die...even for a short while. What nature sets in motion is one thing...what man does is another. Too many stars being born that did not have to be. A loving tribute to their lives and being, gorgeous. I love you

England is also experiencing one of the hottest, driest summers on record. I watched a fire burning in the hills last week...about sixteen miles away from where I live.

That is me in the picture...age 17. It was taken on the 110th floor of the World Trade Centre in New York in June 1994. I couldn't believe how tall the buildings were...amazing views. So sad what happened on 9/11. I stayed in NYC a few nights and traveled across the East coast of the U.S to Canada.

oh wow that's amazing so you've made it to the states then that's wonderful... I myself have never been to New York I live in California I used to dream of living in New York as a teen but not anymore would still like to visit though... it's an amazingly beautiful picture of you..
yes it's a great tragedy I will never forget that day... I woke up and the news was playing as the second jet hit the building...it forever changed things I think in a lot of places we didn't feel safe anymore...
I appreciate you sharing with me...

I have friends in Redding who came close to evacuation. Yosemite is sacred. The idea of it being threatened by inferno mortifies. Love this poem, and hope you're not in harm's way.
