Crossing lines
Yesterday the neighbour's dog
took a shit in my flower patch
It was well placed
right in the middle
like a disdainfull slap in my face
You might say
"Don't take it personal, it's just a dog!"
Tomorrow he might take a shit on my veranda
and you might say
"Don't take it personal, that's just what dogs do!"
Then he will come into my house and take a shit on the floor
Don't get me wrong...I love dogs
I love people too
I don't allow people to shit on my stuff
Why should a dog be privileged?
There is always a battle going on you see
Even the day we have peace on earth
somewhere a dog will shit in someone's flower patch
That's why the situation is utterly hopeless

Some people say dogs are more loyal than people....meaning you can abuse them and they still love you and stick around. I've seen some dogs who are so submissive...they piss on themselves when you look at them. I prefer cats. They have dignity. I'm all about equality....submissivness turns me off.

I like this one. I feel like there is an optimistic take hidden in there somewhere too, the zen of shit in your flower patch.

Good poem . I doubt they have the right to do such a thing although i am guess they do not realise the upset they are causing and i would be blaming the owner

dearest Angel while reading I had people in mind
as well as the dog's owner for letting the dog crap on your flowers
no they don't have the right to treat you like that
you should get angry...
great write you always have power in your poems...
I can tell you're a person with values and strength...

I live in Mexico. The dogs here are half wild, the owners don't care. Many dogs come to us for a few crumbs and some love here and there. They claim our yard as part of their territory. Of course to me my yard is my territory.
So there we fight over boundries, just like in other situations in life....

I suppose the only advantage is that the shit might somehow act as fertilizer for the flowers but that's about all. It's trespassing too! ;-)

I considered the fertilization part....that also goes for taking this metaphorically. There is always some good coming from a shitty experience...that's the zen of dealing with shit.
