Goodnight

When the cold sun rises to greet your blankets
I hope he provides you the warmth that you need.

He'll give you a home for when you get back
After you've seen everything there is to see.

You've seen the darkness of hell on a warm night;
And in the midst of its lights you grow weary.

A smile blesses you as he sleeps
His lips sitting still awaiting you to come home.

His palms are left out in the cold with you
Hinting-and never forcefully-for you to fill the gaps.

He'll never hold you by the neck.
He simply sleeps, and sleeps, his heart wide awake.

You touch the world but his fingers are all you feel,
And not all dreams are imaginary. This one is real.

Be loved, be cared for, in a way you've never known
It doesn't have to be me. So long as you're not alone.

Sleep well.
