Image for the poem I

I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated

I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated
In a war of pens and words
Where the ink draws the line
Only the befitting was chosen
Lord knows I wrote my best
Lord knows I gave it my all
But my best fell short of the Victor
I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated
I feel the winner well deserved the title
The crown can only be given to a head that can wear it
I'm not ashamed to bow my head and call the Victor the best
I feel honored to have lost to such a prolific pen
I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated
That door was long shut I've moved on
For in lose I learned a lesson
For in lose I gained the fire to write even better
To out do my best
To go beyond my limit
To rise like a phoenix from the ashes
A new fire Burns in me
A hot blaze fuels my need to win
I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated
I'll take my pen lay it on a page
I'll take my ink spit it on a page
I'll take my thoughts and scream them out a page
So that in the end
"I'll take my throne lay it on a mountain and make myself a king"
I've lost but nowhere close to being defeated
