I Guess That Some Friendships are Just Meant to End
If u didn’t want to go with me u just should have said so
I’m smart no need for u to spell it out
It’s like you want to end our friendship though
Well we’re both young adults no need to pout
Let’s sit down and talk about this in a civilized matter
Cuz if you want to pull away from being my friend that’s cool
Seeing you make new friends, nothing could make me happier
I just don’t want you to think you can play me for a fool
No that just wouldn’t work
Because then you’ll be breaking one of my golden rules
1 don’t think you can be a jerk
And 2 don’t think for one second that I’m a fool
I don’t know what exactly you were playing at
You sounded as if I wasn’t worth your time anymore
Still maybe I was reading too much into your words, I sometimes do that
Still it makes me wonder what I wasted my time making us best friends for
It’s sad because I still remember the time
That we use to share our poems
And talk them over line by line
And use to talk on the phone
But oh well that’s the past
Now all you care about is high school and your man
“What about our friendship?” With your attitude it won’t last
“You’re going to college.” You make it seem as if I’m moving to Japan!
Still you want to end our friendship that’s fine
After all I agree a long distance friendship is hard to keep
I’m not that ignorant, that blind
So you just stay here with Aubrey and let your family seep
All that they possibly can from you
While I go out in the world and make something of myself
Just stay here and let your family boss you around as you always will do
And I’ll watch you get pregnant and set your dreams on a back shelf
I’m smart no need for u to spell it out
