Rising Again
In addiction
battling
far longer
than I care to recollect
attempts at wellness
littered with failure
despite intellect
Time and again
proving inadequate
and alone
combating
my demons
with insufficient armour
yet concession
I shall not condone
In faith and courage
rising
once more
pursuing grace
proceeding
with dignity
salvation
to embrace
For I am worthy
of recovery
belief
I must apprise
as I fear
another defeat
shall surely
bring upon my demise

we are an addictive species...habit is easier than consciousness...addictions can only be changed, not eliminated...nevertheless persistent effort brings results...as an amateur astrologer who has carefully observed others for many years it seems to me most people most of the time are more their Moon signs than Sun signs...good luck on replacing your addictions...and I admire your courage revealing this personal struggle in poetry...

Though I am wounded, I am not slain
