Raven with Jaded Wings (a collaboration with smackdownraven and myself)
A raven darkly beautiful
Perches inside my heart
Talons sunk deep
Crimson pooling over its feet
The pain becoming real
writhing in torture
its soul worn and weary
from years of abuse
sadly she was accustomed to it
after awhile even a cage
can seem like a home
Befriending pain means survival
Even if survival
is nothing more than a question
inside my head
A question mark that this
Quaint raven perches
Its jaded wings held close
Protecting its inner hope
Its hope is increasingly fragile
Cracked and weathered
Barely holding on
through the slats in the bars
she held tight to a vision
of soaring free in the night skies
her beauty finally realized
Its courage is wavering
Its strength like a ghost
Wisps here and there
Never enough to keep
The storms from further
Destruction of its very existence
the storms came
the doubts blew
she barely made it out alive
but one day she finally flew
far from her captors
who said she wasn't good enough
would never be strong enough to survive
that she didn't have the courage
to live without him by her side
the beautiful raven
jaded and hurt
proved him wrong
when she took to the skies
her home now where the wind takes her
she is truly now alive
To be free and trapped
Such a confusing place to be
Pausing the progress as it
Mocks you and sets the
Question mark on fire
loving herself for who she is
a conquer
a fighter
loved from deep inside
Its the only way to be free
Love yourself humbly
