Born, our minds are indistinct
imperfect but not accidental
created for some great purpose
exposure to experience instrumental

as we emerge through life
our blank canvas is sketched
sometimes in tragedy and misfortune
faith and temperament stretched

learning value through hardship
memories imprint and design
but the character we choose to display
our histories do not define

to be wholehearted and love ourselves
we must not hate that which brought us here
accept the journeys that helped shape us
let go of resentments and fear

learn to grow around our hollowness
like flowerbeds surrounding a weed
mould ourselves amid the void
growing our soul by planting a seed

blessed are those that practice forgiveness
despite loss and pain they rise
beyond the calamity of their past
worthiness shines within their eyes
