WHY?
Snugly embraced by the flag of Elder Garvey
Representation of the African diaspora family
Stating my blood, my people, my land
Reminding us all that we're Africans
While in deep thought about the struggles of today
She doesn't understand why much seems the same
Depressed by the revelation that things'll never change
As the same game is being played under different names
She's lost her father, her brother and her son to this war
Exasperated by the tragedies and just can't take anymore
Her optimism is lost and can never fathomably be restored
For the pain that she feels runs deep down to her core
No more! No more! No more! is what she's silently saying
While the only remedy she receives is to keep on praying
As they're preying on our people we just stay meditating
Waiting on a savior when the answer is to start standing
Arising off of our knees so these policies can change
On how they're policing keeps leading to early graves
Or an abundance of us being placed in them cages
As they laugh at our pain like it's in the funny pages
Her rage is on the rise because there's no U-N-I-T-Y
Tear ducts have been dumped and are now bone dry
Cries being constantly ignored as she looks to the sky
Asking GOD why as she's desiring to just fucking die
