A Life Of Cups
The page dreams of art and love
Birthed into the subconscious minds abstract splendor
Little use for the attachment of material vice
Playfully eloping with romanticizations so vivid and true
Like a collection of dirty rain water stretched out into an expansive sea of serene reflection
Organically sailing its waters without even a star to follow
Though as years grow in number it seems
The realities of others creep slowly to his ear
Idealist toxicity tainting the purity of his seafaring ways
Ships of war ascending upon his ignorant euphoria
Abruptly aging him from infant to man
Confiscating pen and lute as his tools of battle
Lending sword and shield to a hesitant hand
Birthed into the subconscious minds abstract splendor
Little use for the attachment of material vice
Playfully eloping with romanticizations so vivid and true
Like a collection of dirty rain water stretched out into an expansive sea of serene reflection

where do we begin...
for the expression has left such deep impact.
stanza 2 hit hard for its sheer beauty dear poet.
every single line there..you delivered a story and to some effect i say!!
my RL is stuck @ 187. I know what's next.
thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Like the anger here, nestling against resignation to time. And indeed, life is a storm of cups...the art is to capture the purity in just one of them.

Re. A Life Of Cups
One underlying thesis of Dostoevsky's 'The Idiot' begged the question, "Can innocence survive a cruel world?" Innocence is defined ( in part ) by the quality or state of being innocent; freedom from sin or moral wrong.
Therefore, despite what is inflicted upon an innocent person, the person remains innocent if they refuse to retaliate in kind. This could be considered by some as Love's greatest test.
The Cup suite in Tarot are associated with Love and an emotional level of consciousness, e.g. - feelings ( expressions thereof ), relationships ( emotions in relation to others ), and connections ( the display of such emotions to others ).
That this is entitled " A Life of Cups " is intetesting in that the suite of Cups signify positive ( unless reversed ( 5 & 8 of cups the exception ) ). I think the word 'hesitant' is pivotal in this. . . the hesitancy signifying a reluctance to let go of what the heart knows exists, despite the actions of others, or the mind's dictates;
Innocense fighting to survive.
Good pen.

Your insight is spot on . "Can innocence survive a cruel world?" Would make an excellent by line here , being exemplary of the theme. I'll have to read into some of his philosophy .
The tarot suit of cups was indeed the driving inspiration and symbolism that I used . Coupled with my personal connection to it and the underlying meanings of the cards as you stated . The page being the one in conflict becoming hesitant to give up his innocence .
Thank you for the thoughtful reflection . It's Greatly appreciated.

Hi , Jade . Thanks for stopping by and checking out some of my work . I appreciate your kind wishes and interest :)
I'm glad to be partaking in the event . It'll definitely be a testament to our creativity and commitment . Hoping I can consistently have some scribbles worth reading through the entire month.
On a side note , "Nah-poe-glow-poe-rye-moe" is currently at least in my top five of favorite things to say :p
Cheers :)
