Jehovah
the burn was worth the pain
it was exquisite in the torture
tears of regret never stained my face
until I broke
brought to my knees
demon dogs barking
caused me to run
I could no longer face them alone
they sought to silence me forever
I cry to the heavens
please hear me now
I'm afraid for my life
drowning in lies
I can't outrun the devil
he's gaining on me
take me now
or help me stand
I've fought you every step of the way
dishonored your name
if it's possible even blasphemed
I cursed you from my high tower
I'm brought low before my enemy
I took him in and he double dealed me
bitter tears roll down my face
defeated in my defiance
check mate
Jehovah God our maker
I'll admit you created me

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts." first lines of Dhammapada, sayings of Lord Buddha...perhaps it's time to grow beyond crippling mythology of totalitarian Christianity (designed by serial killing Emperor Constantine and bureaucratic 4th century Christian hierarchies)...as Jesus is quoted as saying 'The Kingdom of Heaven is within' & ' what I have done you can do also'...good read....

thank you dearest Lawrence you have so much knowledge and enlightened my mind.. while I don't prescribe to Christianity this title came to me I know one name doesn't capture the essence of the spirit properly that flows through so many.. i'm happy you enjoyed the read..

Truly beautiful <3
He can take your heat, remember that. All of the angst, pain, anger, coming to realization and crushing admittance...
This is going into my RL.

Powerful poem Brenda as usual you are such a good wordsmith, I bow to your talent - However I just cant see you as a mans rib :-)
The Wooly Babble - David 15:7 Verily I say unto you there is none that rejoiceth in heaven because it existeth not.
..................................................God, Jehovah, Mohamed, Thor, Odin, Zeus, Apollo, Spiderman, Batman, Superman
.................................................. [8] Any of these could have had created me - but they didn't, my evil parents did
Huge massive Hugs :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

David really I don't know what or who this spirit is.. I just know it talks to me it always has I've felt it's power and been nearly broken by it.. i've been silent because of my mental health as of late.. now it's simply inspiration that is silent I always go where she leads even if I don't like it.. well this is where she led today and honestly you know I prefer the dark but I know from experience if I refuse to speak for her she will offer me her silence in return so there it is..

I like what you say above about silencing the dark. I try to do the same, but it keeps getting the upper hand. Mostly. Love your lines as always Crim.

thank you dearest Sir Crow it's a struggle my friend blocking out the dark but somehow I believe even it has its place in the universe so I embrace it when it comes and run if I get too scared :)

Re. Jehovah
Dear Brenda, because of or in spite of the many layers of what the creation of this poem means to you (even as you try to analyze this very thing in the aftermath), I figuratively jumped up from my seat high in the rafters, to wildly wave, whoop & holler when I heard you exclaim:
“check mate
Jehovah God our maker
I'll admit you created me”
Not just because of what you said, but after such a building up in your verse! And it’s not because of only one objective... but many shades, dark & light, and all of the corresponding emotions.
I’m getting carried away, so suffice it to finish by saying that you’ve offered us a compelling write that I added to my RL before I could even catch my breath!
Much pen respect, & my best,
Jade xo
