Red Blazes Within My Sphere of Infinity

What sparks desire in old cold hearts set afire?
If regrets were trees my mind would be a burning forest
Charred green aglow, withering in an eternal flame
If love was a flower my heart would be a blooming garden
Thirsting for rain and hungry for sunrays to enlighten life
Yet instead red embers crackle in the cracks of a memory
Long forgotten from a naively innocent youth
When the touch of another was soft and pure like rain drops
Splashing upon the petals in Eve's delicate pink garden
The images flash like summer bulbs sprouting tulips
When two lips became four for too brief a moment
Now I wish them away like faded film in a dying inferno
As Autumn has fallen over the armor of a rusted old soul
Deeper red than the strands of her long blazing hair
Why can't I forget all of the mistakes decayed into regret?
Recycling tears dropped on my tongue for a nickel a pop
Bricked behind false walls in a dungeon of eternal pain
Doors left unopened conceal secrets I'll never reveal
