I'm Alive
I don't know how to explain the difference;
I'm here and I'm alive are not the same.
I'm here is flat, colorless.
I'm alive is... Is like now.
My eyes are wide and aware.
Even walking this familiar route.
The trees have detail, personality.
The street lamps are bright and welcoming.
I don't want to die.
I imagine this is what everyone else feels.
I want to feel like this forever.
Alive.

This is some beautiful writing. It captures a moment of mindfulness perfectly, where everything is vivid and pure and you get lost in that moment and wish it could continue forever. For a moment, you feel alive, which is exactly what this poem says to me.
The use of the line - I imagine this is what everyone else feels - says that you don’t often feel this way, and trust me when I say you are not alone. Sometimes even if that feeling is fleeting, it is all we need to make it through to the next day. Thank you for this write, it has made me think about a lot xo

Thank you for commenting. You are absolutely right. On many accounts. I don't feel this way often at all. The last time I recall feeling this good was at least four years ago. I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone and that this has some meaning for you.

I love this! I can relate so much to it. I don't feel alive too often but when I do I always think to myself that this is how others feel and that I wish I could stay feeling that way. Great job! :)
