Song for Sister
Let it go and move on
There's no need to get caught up
In the things that corrupt your mind...
Open up, let me in
Peel away from your tough skin
And embrace the true love of your existence...
When the sun rises again
Breath in life, breathe it in
Feel the warmth and take another step forward...
Every day we practice this
But together we can't miss
The opportunities await if we see them...
So let it go and move on
You're not alone this time around
We will see this journey through to the end...
Hand in hand we will see
All the love that we need
Has been waiting within all along...
Emmy Jean, we love you
Family we are True
We believe in you...
[ Author's Note: ]
This was a song I wrote for my sister
in the Winter of 2014/15 after
I found out that she had been caught
in the grips of heavy narcotic abuse...
I was living on the West Coast with
a nation of States separating us and
felt helpless to be there for her...
When I moved back to Michigan
I struggled to sing this song to her
but as I finished, forcing back tears
a Giant Butterfly blew in on the warm
Summer breeze, as pictured...
