Broken Fairytale
She has been trapped inside a nightmare. A dark and twisted fantasy; where the trees' branches coil like claws and roots pretrude from the ground waiting for an unsuspecting victim. Beyond the dark forest, where the shadows dance around and play mischiveious games. There dwells a castle, a castle with a tower and in the tower she lives in her own world that she has built. She has made this world so that she may forget what happened, and when she sees something that is real she pricks her finger on the needle of a spinning wheel, hoping to go back into her dreams where she doesn't have to remember what happen. She has hair as black as ebony and skin as fair as snow, her eyes are as beautiful as ambers from a flame. She sits in her tower looking down upon us, she seems so perfect and happy in her castle, in her tower when really she cries herself to sleep holding herself together when really she is slowly falling apart. She has locked herself away from the world so that not to remember the pain she has seen and had to endure. She doesn't want to remember what happen so long ago but yet it felt like only yesterday in her memory.
She looks into the mirror on the wall and she sees nothing near the fairest of the all, she sees someone who is weak and broken. She sees someone who deserves nothing and she breaks the mirror wanting the girl to go away forever. She blames herself for what he did, she wishes she could take it back but in the end she knows that she cannot. And so she crumbles like a coat to the floor, holding herself and pleading that the pain will go away and that when she opens her eyes he will not be standing there.
He was her prince, he was suppose to give her a happy ending but all he did was break her heart and soul. He shattered her like the mirror that layed now broken at her feet. He made it so that she was afraid of love, of life, of people, of trust. He made her afraid to feel, to let go, to enjoy, to cry, to look at someone long enough to see that they meant what they were trying to say. He put a spell on her and she was his, he had all control over her and she had nothing. He ruled over her with an iron fist making her sink back in fear that he would strike her if she did not obey. She loved him sadly, that is sadly the truth and when the clock struck twelve one hallowed night, her screams could be heard from his tower as he held her down and he murdered her soul and destroyed anything she would ever have because when she left she turned back into a pumpkin but a blood stained glass slipper came back with her as a memory of what really happen.
And even now years after the incident that scarred her for so long she still cries. She still feels the pain as he held her down, she still sees him standing over her and she still sees and smells the blood that marked her that day.
And so she remains in her world of magic, she builds up a wall, she blocks the world, people, life, love... everything out.
But then I came along and I pulled her from her glass casket, her eternal sleep and I placed a kiss upon her lips and I broke the curse.
Her beautiful eyes opened and she was looking into me and I saw what nobody has ever got to see. I saw the girl that hides behind a mask, under a veil, behind a wall. I break that wall down and I am staring at a girl who has believed for so long that she is to blame for something that was never her fault. I offer her my hand and I hand her the key to my heart, she accepts the key and takes my hand. I pull her into my arms where I kiss away her tears, she is safe now and unlocked from the tower. I look at her and I realize that I am staring at the most beautiful creature in the entire world. I tilt up her chin and kiss her gently on the mouth, she pulls away and looks back to the tower which she has hid away inside for so long. She then slowly looks back at me and she wraps her arms around me and she begins to cry because now she is safe. She is safe from his spell, he holds no more power over her. She is still broken but she is on the mend, I pull her close to me and I kiss her lips again.
Once upon a time, there was a girl trapped in a web of her own memories and her own mistakes. She let that web hold her prisoner for years and years on end. She let his power over her devour her soul like a spider with a fly. But then I came along and I became the prince slaying a dragon, saving my princess from his claws. I may not be brilliant, I may not be strong, I may not be the best but I will do what none before me has ever done, I will love her and fight for her. I will hold her when she feels pain, I will wipe her tears when she remembers what he did. I will be there for her no matter what, I will do whatever it takes in my power just to know that she will be alright. If it's not real you can't hold it in your hand and you can't feel it with your heart. But if it's real you can see it with your eyes, even in the dark.
And so we come to the end of our tale, the girl we spoke of still lives in her tower but she lets me in every now and then. And she sometimes even comes out, I know she's still scared and she doesn't fully trust the world again but I know that I love her and I will do anything in my power to keep her happy and safe. She still sees him, and feels the pain but I try to be there and hold her close and kiss away her tears.
She thinks I am going to leave... When really I have no where to go, my place is with her and that is where it will always be. She is mine and I am her's and we will be togother for ever.
And so there will be a happy ending.
All the only thing left is for her to leave behind her tower and let go of her pain, her memories, her fear. So then we can finally bury to castle and we will all have a happy ending.
