The Reality of Love
I love everyone.
But no one loves me back.
I'm caring and loving to a fault.
But nobody gives a fuck about me.
And I'm absolutely cool with that.
People can and will take you for granted if you allow them to.
I came to this realization after being
lied to, cheated on, misled, talked about, stolen from, and ignored so much by so many.
I used to give all of me and whatever
else I could give, just to feel the feeling
of being wanted and appreciated.
Now, at the age of 28, I see that no matter how much you go through and sacrifice for a person....
No matter how much you feel for them or
how much you're willing to do for them...
No matter how much you love them, a person does not HAVE to love or treat you the same way to love and treat them. It would be fckin awesome if they did. But most times, it doesn't happen that way.
The Golden rule is " Treat others the way you would want to be treated."
But it seems like people don't even know how to treat their damn selves, to know how to treat the next person.
That doesn't stop me from loving people but now I know not to expect love in return.

I DON'T agree everyone is that way...I've tried to show that many many times...

(Even though your poem was published a year + ago, it’s still relevant now)
Dear Lovely Soul,
Not only about love, but every aspect of life - I’m sure you’ve come to understand this. I was always asking questions about why so many could seem so indifferent, and even downright cruel. As if to care means you’re unstable.
And, as I grew up & began to mature in the finer mentality of a human being, I found myself asking others, even God, less questions, until I went silent.
But being silent didn’t keep me from asking questions - lots of them. Going silent didn’t keep me from hurting, aching to find the answers. I turned the pain inward, I turned the need to know inward. And out came poetry. Everything for me comes out as poetry. It doesn’t change how or who others are, but it helps how I live with the fact.
And to know that those like you, and me, are more in number than people imagine. People like you, and me, feel alone in all of this, yet I know we’re not.
The reality of love, is the reality of being alive.
And thank you for sharing this with us, dear sister.

I pray You are not this way this year.........today.......
I realize we all maturate with different situations and greet, meet and connect with different types of people
but what I've discovered (Yes, after being hurt emotionally time and time again)
is that to experience incredible love and intimacy requires vulnerability.
This spill sounds as if You've resigned Yourself to NO MORE OF THAT VULNERABILITY SHIT.
My heart feels and cries for You and pray You let go of that.
As far as the spill,
well done
You drew out feelings from many.
Going forward,
I wish You well................
