Speaking up for the oppressed is perceived as causing division
Those perceiving it that way need a new optometric prescription
Their blurred vision is viewing society through sets of privileged eyes
In which they're making all of the victims out to be the despised guys
Everyone whose hearts are void of empathy should be declared our enemies
Since they're willingly taking a blind eye to the trail of blood out in the streets
From the strange fruits which are our youth who've been taught to lynch themselves
By the popularity of sipping on lean and staying high from popping prescription pills
What do you presume is the reason why many of them desire to stay faded
Could it possibly be because reality hurts and they feel helplessly frustrated
Are we all just looking for quick escape routes and means of distractions
Since our so called leaders are tirelessly trying to divide us up like fractions
And who's the final approving authority about what's considered an epidemic
Since heroine addiction is determined to be but crack addiction wasn't & still isn't  
It's not about race in every case but many times that is how it appears
If you dispute that then where's your proof at that most of society cares
So if the power is with the people and those people chose to elect Trump
Is that indicative of the mindsets here in a country that supposedly represents all of us
Where taking a knee protesting police brutality makes you a public enemy
The calculation of that equation doesn't give the illusion of being one team
