Most Beautiful Thing
Shy to the core, afraid of being burned.
She excluded herself from the world.
She felt like she didn’t fit in.
Not with anybody, not anywhere.
Then he came along.
He turned her world upside down.
And he was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen.
Perfect for her in every way.
Or so she thought.
A good month in she noticed a darkness in him.
Something she’d only seen in one other person before.
And he was more terrifying than anything she’d ever seen.
First big fight she was on the ground.
He left her, even though he knew her biggest fear was being alone.
Every action, every loud word, it reminded her of the way things used to be when she was younger.
He brought out the worst in her that day.
Two months strong, she thought she was getting better.
But all of that changed because of him.
Like she had done so many times before, she reverted to her old ways.
He had done this to her, but she loved him.
She wouldn’t ever leave him, even if it was for her own good.
No matter how many times he hit her, teased her, made her feel like she was two feet tall.
He was hers, and the very moment he said “I love you baby”
He was still the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen.
