Ribbed Music of Bone ( Villanelle )
Centuries manifesting Sound
Charting trajectories in blood
'twixt ribbed music of bone
Through generations thereof
themed variations of chord
Centuries manifesting Sound
Resonate vibrations of note
intervals reverberating thirds
'twixt ribbed music of bone
Defining the rise of scale
double bass through treble clef
Centuries manifesting Sound
Melodic intervals in tone
Adagios restful and slow
'twixt ribbed music of bone
Vessels creating their song
tintinnabulate as One;
Centuries of manifesting Sound
'twixt ribbed music of bone
~

💜
I think I've only written one or two villanelles.
This one have me all up in Google's business researching terms. Like "tintinnabulate", which I never heard of before.
I'm having a visual of a slab of ribs being played like Pan's flute. [nonsense]

This was amazing A...I'm not a big form person but I've done a number of them here n there, even one of these but I'm pretty sure it wasn't close to how well you're this... :)

Thank you, PoetikOne.
Its always difficult stepping out of my free verse into the box of form, but I feel it necessary to touch base periodically to remind myself to respect those that do. It's not as easy as they make it look.
This had been in drafts since May. I'm trying to clean them all out.

I like the harmonic flow of this, it accentuates the subject, and theyres a hint of darkness, I think too, by using the word ' bone ' and repeating it, the sound of the word, it makes the whole thing seem a reference to humanity and really gives it a depth, it's a really well crafted poem, I like it :)....

As with the frequencies that reverberate our cosmos, I have been drawn times repeating now to reread your sonic expression herein. This is a lovely ode to the musical expressions of time and memory. Another wonderful write :) Do you write lyrically / for musical performance?

Thanks, Gem. Nope; never have! I'm typically not a form person, but do resign to discipline myself to it for appreciation's sake. ❤

Apparently villanelles are the third most popular form of poetry after sonnets and Haikus - now we know why :)
