Madness

I feel his wings upon my back, his breath in my hair
Every little whisper brings a sight I cannot bear
Inside I suffer with a misery I do not show
I've tried to cut it out of me but never will it go

No more will the sky be blue or sunlight warm my skin
Into my bones a chilling numbness has settled in
Nightmares haunt me everywhere I turn
The darkness consumes me and pain is all I yearn

I withdraw into myself but only for a while
A shadow lingers in my eyes, behind my faded smile
I shudder another breath and wipe away the tears
With the echo of his laughter ringing in my ears
