Ode to a Country Mouse – dedicated to ‘fromtheAsh’
There was once a little country house
Who lived happily in her country house
She scurried around, would dance and sing
She just had love for cheese and everything
Known in the town as a mouse who’d never frown
Raised anyone up who was feeling really down
She was as cute as a button; her smile never fails
She wrote beautiful poetry telling wonderful tales
Nathaniel L’Strange was the master’s only son
He was all about pranks and that cruel kinda fun
He caught this gentile country mouse
In the kitchen of the country house
Stolen cheese: In a fit of rage
He locked the country mouse in a cage
She squeaked and cried until she was almost sick
As he called her bad names and poked her with a stick
Her rescue came from an unlikely source
As he was grabbed by physical force
His mother the Countess had seen enough
It was time for love shown as being tough
Animal cruelty and in a rage
She locked her son inside the cage
He squeaked and cried until he was almost sick
As she called him piggy and poked him with a stick
She left him there over night
In order to give the brat a fright
He cried out in terror in the night
But was not prepared to see the sight
Of the country mouse carrying a key
She opened the cage and set him free
He served her milk, he gave her cheese
You can eat as much as you please
And so the country mouse
Still living in the country house
Is now loved by all. no one gets on her nerves
Because it’s only love that she really deserves
