At the beach
Small waves slowly lapping
the day feels fine to me.
Golden sun shining down
my shoulders warm and strong.
Birds squealing in the sky
circling above my head.
Waves cresting around my calves
the surge is building higher.
Hot sun beating down
my skin inflamed and glowing cherry.
Raptors screeching as they plummet
down and around in a cacophony.
Huge breakers crashing down
washing me out to sea.
Blistering sun hammering down
boiling away my serenity.
How does peace and calm
get swept away leaving
in its wake a maelstrom
tearing me apart.
