seems like people feel threatened if you read a book in their company, although if you stare at a screen they're fine about that ..

I don't know, I have this thing when I'm out with friends - no phones or books. We actually talk and interact! * gasp *
However, if one were to begin staring intently at a screen while out, I would have no problem pulling out my phone, or * cough book cough * that I typically have in my bag! 📖
