In Silent Acquiescence

time passing
grasps released with bitter tears
giving up letting go float away
smiles served up as crumbs
on ornate trays
decorated to please the eyes

empty windows of mere samplers
poems recited again and again
beauty gone, a mere silhouette
remembrance of colours on moving canvas
superficial as lights
from a waning moon

incessant murmurs, soft sighs
before unaided she swoons comfort of the sand
of an imagery
shifting sand of time
sweeps the sweetness of a repose

no rest on peace kissed pillow
emptiness keeps plucking
the tattered sleeves
of an old cloak nagging whispers
fed with spoonful of regrets
worrying shreds of weary wishes.
