His Hands

You couldn't tell I was drowning, you thought I was waving
And the darkness soaks through my skin, takes me to a watery grave
The vines hold onto me like shackles restricting motion
The water fills me like an emptiness
My lungs heave and collapse in hell's blood polluted ocean.

My feet hit solid ground, a room of dark thoughts and taunting voices
I lie there cold and sweating, silence leaves me naked
A moonlit window showers the room with ghosts of my past
Screaming and tearing at my face
Only He will know how long it will last.

A door opens and there He stands, doused in darkness and knowing
In his cold hands, he holds a human heart
It's still pumping, but is broken in half, tears pouring
His laugh is fear embodied in a mortal cage.

I reach out for help, yet to realise I am dripping blood
A hole in the chest, a missing heart, black dripping from my soul
He kneels down, his hair sweeping across my face
A kiss, his lips, infused with malice and spite
Venomous and misplaced.

"I am your everything" a voice as sweet as an angel's, stabs me in the ears
"I am here to hold you up, back to the surface, carry away your fears."
His arm's, adorned with maps of the world, take me towards the fractured light
And breaking the water's edge, I gasp for air and grasp for life.
