I asked.
I asked to kiss you,
And you told me do not ask,
Just do.
And I waited for my chance,
And kissed you on your second glance.
It cemented our choice,
That to each other,
We would share our sweetest voice.
Soft noises,
Sweet kisses,
Could never be any closer together.
And through the months,
It become more real,
And you start to notice how you really feel.
What is complimenting your actions,
And what is just stunting your response.
Just to please your lovers ears,
But you can't be real enough to share all of your fears.
And why you're afraid to speak,
Cause you feel like you'll never be heard.
And you can never be real with someone,
Cause you're scared of the reaction.
You'd rather not ruin the interaction.
But no one wants someone who can't be real,
When it comes to the nitty gritty,
When times have been shitty,
How are you going to solve your problems,
If you never face them?
How are you supposed to,
When you'd rather race away from them.
And I don't blame you for not staying for them,
When I couldn't at least make you smile most of the time,
You're too young to face any time,
To be so constricted,
To be so confined.
And I hope you sever all of the ties that bind you,
Keeping you down.
Be rid, of everything that is just bringing you down.
I wanted to kiss you one last time,
And for the first time in forever,
I proposed the question.
Cause I don't have the right to act on the habit.
And you walked ever so slowly,
And you never owed me it,
But our lips embraced,
Like your finely laced Vans.
I wish I could keep them tied together forever.
But the laces will always come loose.
When the threads have been worn down,
When the feeling is gone.
And you told me do not ask,
Just do.
And I waited for my chance,
And kissed you on your second glance.
