Love in My China Cup
Sponges and cigarettes
A question unanswered
But you’re only looking through the keyhole
Don’t ask for my hand through lucrative lace
My imagination has always been over-active and
Cannot condone your tall, yet temporary tales
Colourful houses, hearts, pigeons, mannequins
Let’s take this conversation to the roof
Pretender
I may mock, refuse, verbally bruise
So, you carry a box of matches
Do I detect my ears burning?
I’m always one in the line-up
But when you toss a penny
You know who’s gonna catch it
-or attempt to anyway
I’ll take a pinch of pepper
Allow you to unravel my mystery
Be close
Years later I take a look
And there’s our love in my china cup.
